Little Things – DIY

It is Friday again… as quickly as the weekend leaves us to enjoy our week, the weekend is in front of us at our door step. And today I want to share little things you can do….

NAILS : An easy trick is this : Take your favorite 2 colors and tape (which ever tape you like although masking tape I think is the best) cut squares, stick on one side of your nails, paint 1 color on the non-covered side of your nail. Leave to dry , tear the tape of and do the other side with the other color. And finish with a top coat. Easy 😉

TIGHTS : When you need to look a little different, if you’re wearing tights, sew a few sequins on them, either on the sides by your ankle or sew a few from your ankle upwards. I’ve used thread, buttons and cross stitched on the sides…

JEANS : Simple – buttons, sequins and beads. Do the same as above, but more subtly. You don’t want to sew all over yourself. Or you could take an old shirt, cut hearts out and sew them on the pockets, front or back. This works for old shirts with holes in as well. Heart patches, pretty much any shape I think works, unless your planning on sewing all the shapes on your top LOL

SHOES : Old shoes, glue (by glue I mean like Super glue) a proper bonding agent and a little glitter. Put together and paint away on your shows. You can always buy a glaze to coat it with. And for fabric shoes, I sew different patterns using cotton or embroidery thread, like tribal triangles and squares on one side of each shoe. Like comics? Cut your favorite and use modge podge (you can get this from any craft store) and stick them over your scratched heels, glaze is optional….(use sandpaper to rough them first)

HEADBANDS/ALICE BANDS : Old headbands? (You can take anything you have lying around, but not things like your lamps okay…) A needle and thread joined with buttons, flowers from broaches or bags or jackets. Beads or jewels. All you do is stick them on with super glue.

JEWELRY : Nail polish and a paint brush or even a toothpick. Pick your favorite colors, then taking your old necklace, bracelet..etc – apply color to the beads in different patterns….

BAGS : have an old bag you love but has signs of old age, spray-paint, nail polish, permanent markers, decide which you like more using tape cut out patterns and paint!

Headphones getting old? Take embroidery cotton or thread around them, you could crochet the thread around your headphones or stick the thread around them, again, use a strong bonding agent.

Happy Friday!
